2016 has been an incredible year.
One that saw many achievements, but also many challenges. Here are the highlights.
A year ago we launched our new online directory (the website you’re on now,) with the mission of helping Melbournians (Melbournites?) experience more of our fabulous city.
Since then, our directory has welcomed 105,628 users and had a total of 138,239 page-views.
That’s the equivalent of filling up 943 Z-Class trams to their maximum capacity.
This is no mean feat for a website during its first year. In fact it’s incredibly good.
One of the reasons we received the amount of users we did, was because we’re producing high quality content in a niche that was previously not very well looked after.
This was reflected in September when we took out Silver at The Melbourne Design Awards for ‘Best Food & Drink Website.’
And also in November when we rolled out a brand new search engine.
Just the other day we received this e-mail.
Hi there, I just wanted to say thank you!
We were travelling through Melbourne and your website was such great help finding affordable food around the city.
Now we have moved on to Sydney and none of the websites we find for food even begin to compare to yours and I already miss the set up for your website.
I really like how you combine prices, location and descriptions in one and there isn’t much unnecessary scrolling and going to other pages to find out what I want to know.
Love how easy it is to use the website and the filtering system also helps heaps!

We received a few message like this throughout the year, and it makes us incredibly proud to know we’re accomplishing what we set out to do.
Now, with all that said and done, there is a lot more for us to do in 2017.
Our main focus will continue to be to add more venues to our directory. It’s in our best interest to have as many venues listed as possible, something that we don’t charge for.
Our standard listings are free and always will be.
We’re also going to focus on creating more ‘Best Of’ lists, like this one here. These articles bring together related specials, making it easy to see them all in one place.
Currently we have just 12 of these. We’ll have over 100 of these by mid 2017.
With those two points our main focus, we’re hoping to welcome 100,000 users per month by the end of 2017. That’s 7.67 times what we currently receive. It’s a high goal, but it’s achievable.
We also have a few other major announcements that we’ll drop in the new year – they’re all very exciting.
